Our arts instructors offer 1-2-1 tuition in their own field of expertise (including martial arts, music and dance).

This tuition are mainly carried out at Caxton House. If you are looking for tuition at your own place, please contact us.

The fee for a 45-minute arts lesson is £35, and booking in a block of 5 lessons is required.

If you wish to do a small private group class please contact us to discuss pricing.

Our martial arts instructors have a range of different specialities, with the most popular choices being Tai Chi and Wushu.

If you wish to practice a specific type of martial arts, please get in touch and we will find you an appropriate tutor.

We offer music courses for students wishing to learn traditional Chinese musical instruments (including pipa, guzheng, erhu, yangqin, dizi).

If you wish to learn one of the large instruments (including yangqin and guzheng) the lessons must take place at Caxton House.

The smaller instruments may be taught at your place. Students should have their own instruments if they wish to attend these classes.

Pipa
The pipa, also known as the Chinese lute, is a pear shaped instrument with 4 strings. The pipa is one of the most popular string instruments in China.

Guzheng
The guzheng, also known as the Chinese Zither, is a plucked string instrument with a history of over 2,500 years. Due to the size of this instrument we can only do lessons at our Confucius Institute (unless you have your own guzheng at your house).

Erhu
The erhu is a two-string bowed instrument. Despite only having two strings this instrument can produce a range of different sounds and can be played as a solo instrument or as a part of an orchestra. Perhaps one of the most famous pieces is Horse Racing.

Yangqin
This magnificent instrument, known as the Chinese hammered dulcimer, has a total of 144 strings. This instrument is played by hitting the strings with bamboo sticks.

Dizi
The dizi is a woodwind instrument normally made of bamboo, hence it is commonly known as a bamboo flute. The dizi is a fun instrument which can be played in a variety of different styles.

We offer private dance tuition for individuals wishing to learn more about Chinese dance. These lessons can be conducted in the privacy of your home or at the Confucius Institute (between 9.00-17.00 on Monday to Friday)

We offer different types of dancing including contemporary street dance, ballet and traditional Chinese ethnic dances.
