CITCM Partner Schools Celebrate Outstanding Success at the Sixth Chinese Bridge UK Regional Finals

Partner schools of the Confucius Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine (CITCM) have once again performed with flying colours at the Sixth ‘Chinese Bridge’ Chinese Show for Primary School Students 2026 – UK Regional Finals, held online on 26 June 2026.

Organised by the Centre for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC), the ‘Chinese Bridge’ competition has been held annually since 2021. Designed to promote Chinese language learning among young learners around the world, the competition provides primary school pupils with an engaging platform to demonstrate their abilities in Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing, while also showcasing their knowledge and appreciation of Chinese culture. Through its emphasis on enjoyable and interactive language learning, the competition aims to inspire continued enthusiasm for Chinese and encourage long-term language development.

According to the competition organisers, there were 108 entries this year. Following the preliminary judging round, 49 entries progressed to the final, of which 26 came from the partner schools of CITCM, taking up more than half of the total number of finalists. This outstanding achievement reflects both the high standard of Chinese language teaching delivered by the Institute and the excellent language proficiency demonstrated by pupils from our partner schools.

During the online final, pupils from across the UK responded confidently to randomly selected questions from the judging panel. Their fluent communication skills, confident presentation and strong cultural understanding impressed the judges throughout the competition.

Award-winning schools included Hugh Myddelton Primary School (First Place, KS2 Group; Best Creativity Award, KS2 Individual), Tollgate Primary School (Second Place, KS2 Group), Stanhope Primary School (Third Place, KS2 Group; Best Creativity Award, KS1 Group), Albion Primary School (Third Place, KS1 Group), Wembley High Technology College (Third Place, KS3 Group) and Ravenscroft Primary School (Best Creativity Award, KS2 Group).

The exemplary results achieved by CITCM’s partner schools are a testament to the dedication and enthusiasm of the pupils and the professionalism and commitment of the teachers.
